About the Clinton Climate Initiative

The William J. Clinton Foundation launched the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) to create and advance solutions to the core issues driving climate change. CCI addresses the major sources of greenhouse gas emissions and the people, policies, and practices that impact them. Working with governments and businesses around the world, CCI focuses on three strategic program areas: increasing energy efficiency in cities, catalyzing the large-scale supply of clean energy, and working to stop deforestation.

CCI became the delivery partner of the C40 in 2006. It assists C40 cities in delivering projects across a range of program areas -- building and outdoor lighting retrofits, advanced waste management, low carbon transportation and Climate Positive urban development. To help cities to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, CCI is providing direct assistance to individual cities, creating a purchasing consortium to pool the purchasing power of these cities, and facilitating the sharing of information about successful and replicable programs.
